It’s been so crazy busy I haven’t had time to update the site.
For starter’s is this not the cutest picture you’ve ever seen?
Bike Month is here and there have been some awesome events happening all around town. I love to see the Cincinnati bicycling scene grow from year to year.
This picture has nothing to do with this post but I love it anyways. Chris McKenny and Mike Vitatoe jumping over Dominic at the Cincinnati Bike Show at UC last month.
Our 3rd Ride for Reading book delivery was a huge success. The event went really well. We had 50+ riders show up to deliver 3000 books to Chase Elementary School in Northside. We had so much support from our cycling community and the kids were so stoked on their books! I am actually contemplating a second book delivery in September but I have to talk Libby from Wordplay into it first. She got a sly smile on her face when we discussed it this week.
We hosted a commuter station for Bike To Work Week last week. Queen City Bike showed up with their tent and they bought pizza and I bought a lovely fruit tray. The weather was great and we always have so many commuters coming through Northside anyways, it was nice to celebrate them during Bike Month.
Our little shop has been so crazy busy we had to hire a new guy in addition to our current mechanic David who is also in school in addition to working at Spun.
Dakota started about a month ago. He’s wrenching on bikes as well as being trained to check in inventory and is helping me with BMX ordering. He’s been coming around to the shop for a couple of years now and we thought he’d be a great addition to our family. When he’s not working he’s usually at a skate-park until the wee hours of the morning. In addition to shredding on his BMX bike, he’s a fantastic photographer.
The shop has busy. Busier than I can ever remember. I haven’t geeked out on numbers recently but I know repairs are up as well as new bike sales. I can’t order the bikes in fast enough and then they are built and sometimes only on the floor a mere 24 hours and they are gone. We don’t have the space to order in bulk like a lot of shops do so it’s day by day, week by week, order, order, order. With each year that goes by Dominic and I get better and better at our jobs and working as a team. I love it.
Last but not least, Dominic and I were featured in the June issue of Bicycling Magazine. I want to take a moment to thank all of the folks who have reached out to us after reading it. We appreciate all of your kind words and are humbled by the positive response.
