It’s a bit dreary outside. The forecast is calling for 2-4 inches of rain for the next two days. The trails are dusty and dry and it’s been a couple weeks since I have had to mow my lawn. We can use the rain, and honestly I could use a couple of days off riding bikes and enjoying the awesome summer weather we’ve had this year. It’s been never ending, the muggy, sunny, hot summer days, and don’t get me wrong, cuz I live for summer and hot muggy days. I freaking LOVE summer. It’s been another successful, long season of selling bikes, bike repairs and we still have a few big events before the end of the summer which I am very excited to tell you about.
First off, next weekend, August 20-21t is the Broken Spokes Festival. This is a HUGE fundraiser for our friends at Riding Forward, which will take place at the England Idlewild Bike Park. There will be music, art, and bikes. They went ALL out for this event with huge sponsors and bands and all kinds of fun stuff happening, including races on the dual slalom course, dirt jump contests and much, much more. It’s going to be a ton of fun and you should probably be there for at least one of the two days.
Check out how dialed the park is right now. They’ve been working on it all week.

The weekend after that there are two more events.
First up is Saturday August 27th. The Cincinnati BMX street jam. Last year they had 200+ BMX’ers show up for this. There are a ton of cool prizes from a bunch of rad folks in the BMX world. Thanks to Daily Grind BMX for organizing this!
The day after the street jam is Cincy Summer Streets on August 28th. This happens once a year when they close down one mile of Hamilton ave off to cars from 12-4pm in Northside. We will be there with our BMX ramp and music and bikes and it is tons of fun. There is a lot more to do than just ride bikes, there will be street art, a climbing wall, sprinkler booths, hula hooping, yoga, food and much more. This is always a good time so make sure you come out and bring the kids!
Since July 4th was rained out, we will be raffling off the bikes for Jordan Bair’s fundraiser during Cincy Summer Streets on 8/28. The info is here. Come by the shop and grab a raffle ticket and be there for the drawing. Support our BMX family and let’s keep little Jordan riding and skating. Missing his Dad BJ so much this summer…..
