On 2/23 SPUN BICYCLES is officially two years old. We always celebrate on the SECOND SATURDAY in March. The party planning has begun. Join us for cake, music, pizza, sales on all kinds of bikes and accessories, good friends and good vibes. March 14th 10am-9pm.
We were interviewed by a writer from NYC last week. He writes for, wait for it…
He spent two days with us. An intense total of about 12 hours of interviewing. He came to our house, met our dogs, hung out at the shop and around Northside, and also interviewed our parents and mechanic, David. It was exhausting and awesome and all kind of crazy with the constant note taking and recording device on all the time. I am not sure what he plans to write about but we spilled the beans about a lot of personal stuff. They are supposed to send photographers in March and then it’s supposed to be in the print issue in June. You never know what happens with stuff like this, so I am still in that mode of thinking I’ll believe when I see it, ya know?
Anyways, his name is Steve Friedman and he is a really talented writer.
Dominic completed all the construction in the shop. He’s created a lot more space. Bikes are up in the air, we have a new helmet display made out of sprockets, crank arms and pedals, a new cabinet in the new tooling area with a sweet cheetah print curtain (sewed by our good friend Tara at Robot Inside), a 25 foot bar installed across the ceiling for wheels and extra sizes of bikes, a new consulting desk/work station on the floor for Dominic, a bike display in the window (no more bikes hanging from wires), a closet in the back of the space for back stock of helmets and stuff, a new merchandise display for our messenger bags and panniers, and a new chalkboard sign out front. If you are following us on Instagram, search #spunconstruction2015 and you can see all the pics. Here are a few.
So now that the construction is done, we are taking Mondays off for a couple more weeks and then we will get back into the swing of the upcoming season. I AM SO READY!
Our winter hasn’t been bad at all! This past weekend we had a taste of warm temps and I received this pic via our Facebook page. Christy picked up her new bike last Friday and got out to enjoy all the sunshine! How awesome is this?
The word continues to spread about Dominic’s awesome custom wheel builds. We had a UC student at the shop do a cool photography project on this subject. Check out this video.
