We’ve been open for 3 weeks now, and even with this crappy weather, I can’t complain about business. The office is full of bikes in need of a little love, and we’re pumping them out, one after the other. The neighborhood folks have been so kind and gracious, often telling us how happy they are that they have their own little bike shop. We’re happy to fill a niche so badly needed in a neighborhood full of bicyclists.
Last weekend was our BIG grand opening party and the shop was full of friends and family for a good 12 hours straight. Dominic and I were deliriously happy at the end of the night, realizing our biggest dream had come true. It truly was a celebration of the birth of what we hope will be THE BEST BIKE SHOP IN CINCINNATI.
We have a lot of cool stuff on the horizon in the coming months. The first event will be during the week of May 6th, we haven’t nailed down a date yet, but we’re excited to announce our participation in a very cool program called Ride For Reading. Spun Bicycles, along with Wordplay, Queen City Bike and Mobo Bicycle Co-op are teaming up to deliver books to kids via bicycles. This event will be held on a weekday during lunch, and we’re having a kick off party in Hoffner park Sunday May 5th. Mark your calendars now because we need as many bicyclists as we can get to help deliver the goods to the boys at Saint Peter Claver Latin School down in OTR. Stay tuned for details.
May is BIKE MONTH! Spun Bicycles will be manning an evening commuter station during Bike to Work week. This works out perfectly, since we’re a late night bike shop, plus we have BOOZE next door at The Listing Loon for those commuters looking for an after work beer.
Last but not least, I am looking to host an urban mountain bike ride this spring (if the trails ever dry up). This ride will probably take place on Wednesday evening, leaving the shop at 6:00pm. The plan would be to ride to Devou park, do a loop on the mountain bike trails, and then ride back to the shop. I’d love to get some new people out riding trails.
Here are a few pictures from the last week – enjoy!
